It is clear that smarter investments in HIV will rapidly slow the epidemic, limit its impacts on individuals, family and society as well as lower the future HIV and AIDS costs. This document summarizes the interim investment case, highlights the strategic shifts and the domestic financing options that are needed to make the greatest impact on the epidemic by 2030.

Following the endorsement of the African Union Roadmap on Shared Responsibility and Global Solidarity, work on sustainable financing and the investment case was launched by the Government of Kenya with the establishment of a high-level Steering Committee chaired by a Principal Secretary and supported by a technical working group. The work will form the platform for Kenya’s new national AIDS strategic plan in 2014.
